Uzuncaburç / Olba Diocaesarea

Olba ruins, located in Uzuncaburcn in 25km. north of Silifke, is protected very well. Zeus Olbius Temple was situated here in Hellenistic Period. City is called “Diocaesarea” during the period Empire Vespasian (A.D. 69-79) in Roman period. We can list the structure remains, located in the city, as follows. Zeus Olbios Temple, which is constructred in the Corinthian order during the period of I. Seleucus in B.C. 3rd Century, is turned into the church in the early Christianity period. Temple, which is called Tychaion and presented to Good Luck Goddess, is constructed in the Corinthian order and belongs to A.D. 2nd Century. Colonnaded streets within the city belong to Roman Age. Theatre building is constructed in B.C. 3rd Century. Gate with three eyes, opening to north of city, belongs to A.D. 1st Century and “Diocasesarea” script is available in its epigraph.
