Kuşadası, which is coastal country subject to Aydın province, is one of the most important tourism centers in Aegean Region. Kuşadası port is the haunt of great ships of international touristic travel agencies due to Ephesus, Priene, Miletus, Didima around it and even historical places such as Pamukkale and Aphrodisias, located far from it, and also House of Virgin Mary,Marina, constructed in the recent years and great touristic facilies, constructed in the recent years and great touristic facilities, constructed around it, increase the importance of Kuşadası much more and become the county and its surrounding as a great tourism center. First settlements in Kuşadası date back B.C. 3rd Century. Neapoşis, which is located in the south of county and a summer resort of Ephesus in Roman Age, is the first settlement place. City, which is ruled by Venice and Genoeses in Middle Age, is moved into its current place and called Scala Nova. Kuşadası is participated into Ottoman lands during the period of Çelebi Mehmet and its name is originated from Güvercinada next to it. Güvercinada is surrounded with walls as it is used as the military base in Byzantine period. Works before Ottoman period are not seen in Kuşadası. Grand Vizier Öküz Mehmet Pasha gets a hostel and a mosque constructed in Kuşadası in 1618. Furthermore, he gets Kuşadası surrounded with walls having three gates in order to protect from pirates. Öküz Mehmet Pasha Hostel, serving as motel after restoration, and Kaleiçi Mosque and a tower, belonging to old walls, used as military guard post, reach today. No remains of walls reach today. Old Kuşadası Houses are located within the castle, Castle in Güvercinada undergoes repair in 1834 in order to be used as outpost by Ottomans.
