Kekova, Turkey

As settlement areas are submerged due to sinkings, occurred as a result of earthquakes in the region, sunken cities and islands is Kekova Island. This region is generally called Kekova due to this island. There are a Byzantine church and remains belonging to various periods in Kekova Island and remains of sunken buildings in coasts of the island. Ucagiz village (Theimussa) and Kalekoy (Simena ) settlement areas are located in Anatolian Side of Kekova Island. Moreover, sunken areas are located in the coasts of Theimussa and Simena ancient settlements and also, a Middle Age Castle, Roman Bath, a small Theatre and Necropolis and the other remains are located in Simena ancient city.
