Foca – Siren Rocks

In fact, the Islands of Foca occupy an important place in the world tourism with the seals and Siren Rocks. The Islands of Foca, the home of the Mediterranean seals called “monachus-monachus” whose number doesn’t exceed 400 over the world are conserved as a pilot region by the National Committee of Turkey of Mediterranean Seals (WWF). The seals observed rather on the Orak and Incir islands live between the rocks, in the caves at the back of the narrow mouths…

Another amazing beauty of these islands offered to the humans dazzle the tourists visiting Foça… Siren Rocks created after the volcanic eruptions and which took the actual shape by the effect of the wind and water are enriched with a legend reported in Odysseia by Homeros: The ships coming from the open sea in the Antique age had likened the zigzags of the rocks playing with the sea to the seals and because of this illusion, many of them had crashed into the rocks and sunk…

Today, go at the sunset to Siren which is one of the most romantic places of the seamen. The lights reflected by the sun will change in each minute, will dance on each zigzag and produce the last reflection in the water… and the sun will bid farewell silently and disappear without paying attention to the cries of the gulls…
