1)Kadıköy Ferry Terminal Area

As you disembark the ferry, take a moment to observe the bustling atmosphere of the terminal area. This is the heart of Kadikoy, always lively with people coming and going. Notice the historical buildings around the terminal, remnants of Kadıköy’s past. From here you can see the colourful crowds of Istanbul, the simit sellers and street artists.

2)Bahariye Street

Head inland towards Bahariye Street, a pedestrianized boulevard lined with shops, cafes, restaurants, and historical buildings.
Admire the architecture, especially the Art Nouveau details on some of the buildings. Consider stopping for a Turkish coffee or tea at one of the many cafes.

3)Yeldegirmeni Neighborhood

Yeldeğirmeni, one of the districts where Istanbul‘s first housing developments were seen, takes its name from the four windmills built by Abdulhamid I to meet Istanbul’s flour needs. The windmills that gave the district its name no longer exist in the district.

Walk towards the Yeldeğirmeni neighborhood, a charming area with colorful buildings, street art, and a more bohemian vibe.
Explore the side streets and discover hidden cafes, art galleries, and antique shops.
Notice the renovated historical buildings, giving the neighborhood a unique character.

You can see the vibrant life of Yeldegirmeni from every corner of Karakolhane Street. As you walk along Karakolhane Street, you will see the Ayios Yorgios Greek Orthodox Church, built in 1961, on your right. It is known as the last church built in Turkey in terms of its construction date.

4)Moda Coastline

Head south towards the Moda neighborhood and the coastline.
Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the seaside promenade, taking in the views of the Marmara Sea and the European side of Istanbul.
Find a bench and relax, watching the ferries and boats go by. Continue along the coast until you reach Moda Coast, a popular spot for locals to relax and enjoy the views. If you have time, you can sit and enjoy a picnic or simply soak in the atmosphere.

5)Return to Kadıköy Center

From Moda, you can easily walk back to the Kadikoy center to catch a ferry or explore more of the area.
Consider having dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants in Kadıköy before heading back.
