Day 1: Arrival in Istanbul

Upon your arrival at Istanbul Airport, you will be greeted by our driver and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, take a breakfast and exploring the vibrant streets of the Old City. Enjoy your first overnight stay in Istanbul.

Day 2: Old City Istanbul Tour

After breakfast at your hotel, begin your guided tour of Istanbul’s Old City around 9:00 AM.

You will visit the following iconic sites:

Topkapi Palace
Hippodrome
Grand Bazaar
Hagia Sophia Museum
The tour will conclude around 5:00 PM, after which you will return to your hotel for your overnight stay in Istanbul.

Day 3: Istanbul to Kahta (Nemrut)

In the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight from Istanbul to Kahta. The flight departs at 7:30 AM and arrives at 9:30 AM. Upon arrival, transfer to Mount Nemrut (weather permitting). Read more about Nemrut in our article:

Afterward, drive back to your hotel for your overnight stay in Kahta, Adıyaman.

Day 4: Kahta to Mardin

After the breakfast, depart for Mardin. You will arrive around noon and have time to explore the old town, with its unique stone houses and lively bazaars. Admire the intricate carvings and enjoy the stunning views over the Mesopotamian Plain.
Visit the Monastery of Deyrulzafaran, founded in 762 AD, which served as the seat of the Syrian Orthodox Patriarch for nearly 800 years.

Day 5: Mardin, Hasankeyf and Tatvan

After the breakfast, in the morning, explore more of Mardin with its beautiful stone architecture and bustling markets.
Next, drive to Hasankeyf, a town with a rich history spanning nine civilizations. This area is under threat from the Ilısu Dam, which will submerge some of its historic sites, including mosques, tombs and cave churches.
On the way to Tatvan, stop in the charming town of Midyat to see its monastery and traditional houses.
After lunch by the Tigris River, continue your journey to Tatvan, a small village on the edge of Lake Van, where you can enjoy a picturesque sunset over the lake.

Day 6: Tatvan to Van

After the breakfast, depart from Tatvan and enjoy a scenic drive around Lake Van to the city of Van, which dates back to the 13th century BC.
Take a ferry to Akdamar Island to visit the Church of the Holy Cross, an impressive example of Armenian architecture.
Explore Van Castle, a Urartian structure offering stunning views of Lake Van and featuring ancient hieroglyphs.

Day 7: Van to Dogubeyazit

After the breakfast, drive along the historic Silk Road to Dogubeyazit, passing by the Crater Hole near the Iranian border, an area of striking natural beauty.
Here, you will have an opportunity to see Mt. Ararat from various viewpoints. Mt. Ararat is believed by some to be the resting place of Noah’s Ark, although no definitive evidence has been found.
Visit the Ishak Pasa Palace, a grand structure that combines a mosque, fortress, and palace, with one room for every day of the year.
Afterward, continue to Kars for your overnight stay.

Day 8: Kars and Ani Ruins

After the breakfast, take a short drive to the ancient city of Ani, a medieval Armenian city mostly in ruins but still surrounded by impressive fortified walls. Explore the remains of numerous churches, mosques, and caravansaries while enjoying the scenic views across the Armenian border.
Also visit Kars Castle for stunning panoramas of the surrounding area.

Day 9: Kars to Erzurum

After the breakfast, depart for Erzurum, driving through picturesque villages with stone houses and grazing black sheep.
Visit the 12th-century Medrese (Seljuk school) and the 12th-century mosque. Explore the local ethnographic museum and an old caravanserai where local artists create silver and gold jewelry using local black stone.
In the evening, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Istanbul.

Day 10: Departure

After the breakfast, transfer to Istanbul Airport for your departure flight.
